Crude House Party Resources
Amazon Watch and Rainforest Action Network are working together to force Chevron to clean up its pollution in Ecuador, and compensate local communities for their decades of suffering.
Crude documents not only the devastation Chevron (then Texaco) has wrought in the region, but also the communities’ 16-year struggle for justice in the Ecuadorean court. Chevron continues to use the dirtiest tricks in the books to delay and corrupt the legal process to avoid paying $27 billion in damages.
By hosting a CRUDE screening:
1. You help tell the stories Chevron doesn’t want the world to hear
The more people that see CRUDE, the less Chevron is able to hide from their responsibility, and the more likely they will have to clean up the largest oil-related environmental disaster on Earth.
2. You raise crucial funds to support the people of Ecuador.
Asking for donations at your Crude screening will help bring affected people from Ecuador to the US for Chevron’s annual meeting. It is necessary for Ecuadorean people to directly tell their story to Chevron shareholders, media and policy makers, and the decision-makers at Chevron who hold the power to clean up their homeland.
3. You help build a movement powerful enough to change Chevron!
In order to change Chevron, one of the largest and dirtiest oil companies one the planet, we need to build a movement a million times more powerful than them. Crude will educate and inspire thousands of people to commit to changing Chevron in the coming weeks and months.
All you have to do is screen the movie CRUDE, invite as many people as you can, and encourage anyone interested to volunteer or donate to the Clean Up Ecuador Campaign. With your help, we will hold Chevron accountable!

Here is my dilemma… I only have a handful of personal friends that live close enough to me who MIGHT come to a home viewing of Crude. I could and would invite my entire housing complex (53 apartments) but here again, I could end up with no one choosing to attend… I would be happy to do it regardless if you think it is OK that I can’t guarantee many guests. So let me know. Eager to help.

I am the President of the Saint Louis Chapter of Veterans For Peace and also an organizer for the local Living Green Meetup group. If you supply me with a DVD I am sure I can show it somewhere, but maybe not in your timeframe and it would be posted on my groups list serve.

I am very interested in hosting a party though I really know no one from the local area though would love to meet people if there is interest. I see that there is a online media portal – will that get people involved?
I will be more than happy to give it a try. This is such an extremely important case and has the capability to set a precedent for future suits against non law abiding Corporations.

Do you publicize the event by sending a mailing to your own members or listing it on your website?

Hello,
Comment by Josef NewmanI am a student/activist in south florida and part of an environmental activist group. I would like to screen this on campus and reach out to other student groups as well, but as students we of course have limited funds. What are the costs associated with screening this film?
Thank you

I signed up to host the film screening at my University, and I was wondering if I had to purchase public screening rights since it will be a student event? Also, since I am in Washington DC, is it possible to have someone from Amazon Watch attend a discussion after the film?

People registering to my event – Bristol, UK 26th March, keep getting the message:
This web site needs a different Google Maps API key. A new key can be generated at http://code.google.com/apis/maps/.
As do I when i log in to manage the event. It is still functional, but the dialogue box appears at each stage making it prohibitive. What’s wrong?

I am Ecuadorian, so I know perfectly about the devastation that Chevron has caused to my country. I live in Connecticut and I would love to host/organize a screening, but I woul like more time to call people to the event. Let me know if I can do it in another time. Maybe the first week of April?

I am interested. I don’t know about a house party but I can spread the word through the church and college, and personal contacts. Your DVD would be shown and shared and psssed around to many. Let me know if there is anything else I can do.

I am working at an environmental campaign group in Taiwan. The film has caught my attention and I would like to screen it in our office to around 6 group members. Can we still have a copy of DVD even when requesting from Taiwan?
Comment by Yun-Chia Lo04/07/10 at 11:10 pm
I just attened a house party and saw this important film, where can I purchase a copy?
Comment by Susan Wielk04/12/10 at 12:26 pm
Would it still be possible to hold a screening of Crude probably in June some time, after most of Uni exams, and outside of the USA? Because I would really like to raise awareness of this environmental and humanitarian struggle at my University amongst the environmental groups and possibly some of the academic departments too.
Please get back to me.
